Today, the AASA-Howard University Urban Superintendents Academy announced it received a $250,000 grant from Cigna Corporation, a global health service company, to expand the innovative program.

QUINCY, MA -- Nellie Mae Education Foundation announced their first grant awards under their new organizational strategy to advance racial equity in public education. The Supporting Organizations Led By People of Color grants will provide $100,000 annually for three years to organizations led by leaders of color who are working to transform barriers to racial equity in public education. The Amplifying Youth Voice grants seek to amplify the authentic voices of young people throughout New England, supporting their participation in decision-making that affects their futures. This grant fund will support youth organizing groups with three-year general operating support grants of $52,750 annually, as well as technical assistance focused on building their capacity, power, and voice.
Hartford Foundation and First Book Award $1 Million in Grants to Six Connecticut School Districts for Computers and Home Internet Access, Funded by The LEGO Group and The LEGO Foundation
HARTFORD, CT -- Six school districts in Connecticut will begin the school year with new Chromebooks and home Internet connectivity, enabling distance learning for the first time for nearly 3,000 students from underserved communities. The $1 million initiative will support students in kindergarten through Grade 5 in the Bloomfield, East Hartford, Manchester, Vernon, Windsor, and Windsor Locks school districts. The grants, awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and made possible through funding from The LEGO Group and The LEGO Foundation, are being distributed by First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise focused on equal access to quality education.
