TORRINGTON, CT -- The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation through the Draper Foundation Fund, the Marion Wm. and Alice Edwards Fund, and through gifts made by an anonymous local donor, has awarded 53 charitable organizations serving some of the area’s most economically distressed residents grants totaling $60,000. Grants will help provide the most basic of necessities – food, warm clothing and shelter.

TORRINGTON, CT -- The Litchfield-based Seherr-Thoss Foundation provided a $9,000 matching grant to Prime Time House for a new minivan. The grant was matched by the Edward W. This van will provide transportation for more than 300 members who use various programs at the Torrington campus.

TORRINGTON, CT -- A new report about the impact of opioids was the center of a roundtable discussion in Torrington Wednesday afternoon. The report, “Beneath the Surface: The Opioid Epidemic in Northwest Connecticut” explores the crime rates related to opioid addiction in the area, insurance rates, treatment admission rates, how the crisis started, and what solutions can work specifically in a rural region. The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation, the Foundation for Community Health, Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, and the McCall Center for Behavioral Health partnered to publish the report.
