HARTFORD, CT -- The Connecticut Council for Philanthropy today announced the election of two new members to the organization’s Board of Directors effective July 2021. Alexis Bivens and Elysa Gordon add a myriad of experiences to the Council board and are a welcome addition.

CHEFA Awards $150,000 Grant to CT Early Childhood Funder Collaborative for Public-Private Partnership with the Office of Early Childhood
HARTFORD, CT – The Connecticut Early Childhood Funder Collaborative, a collaborative of 21 funders from across the state, has received a $150,000 grant from the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA).
Governor Lamont Launches State Workforce Development Unit Focused on Building the Nation's Strongest Talent-To-Jobs Pipeline
HARTFORD, CT -- Governor Ned Lamont today announced the creation of the Connecticut Workforce Development Unit – a state office that will be responsible for developing workforce policy, utilizing data to set a vision for the workforce pipeline, and coordinating the state’s workforce ecosystem around a common strategy and set of goals.

Summer Youth Learning and Employment Program to serve 1,500 of the Region’s Youth
HARTFORD, CT -- Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) is pleased to announce that the Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program (SYELP) will serve nearly 1,500 youth throughout North Central Connecticut at a time when youth and families are being disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and high unemployment. The sources of SYELP funding include a $1 million commitment from the City of Hartford, $300,000 from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, $150,000 from the Travelers Foundation, $60,000 from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, $15,000 from the Bank of America Foundation, and $34,500 from the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA). Funds from the State of CT Youth Employment Program, and the CT Department of Children and Families have also been committed.

CCP Public Policy Update: Census Workshops for Nonprofits
HARTFORD, CT -- Learn about the upcoming Census workshops series that CCP is co-sponsoring with Connecticut Community Nonprofit Alliance, Connecticut Data Collaborative, and several CCP members throughout January. The Count Me in 2020 Workshop Series intends to increase awareness and understanding of the importance of the Census to Connecticut, to explain precisely how it will work, and to seek the assistance of organizations in communities statewide.
