City of Norwalk Announces Initiative to Help Bridge Digital Divide As the Fall Semester Approaches
NORWALK, CT -- On Monday, the City of Norwalk announced the Connectivity Initiative to try and help the 7-8 percent of children who did not have high-quality, reliable internet service. Dalio Education is the lead supporter of the initiative, providing $315,000 to Norwalk Public Schools which will contract with Altice/Optimum to provide high-speed internet to the 1,000 Norwalk families. This will be supplemented with a $50,000 grant from the Be Foundation. The Per and Astrid Heidenreich Family Foundation and The Ritter Family Foundation have each provided grants of $125,000 to support the Community Services Department and the Family Navigators.

MIDDLETOWN, CT -- Reach Out and Read has launched a new research study being conducted in Connecticut. Thanks to the generous support of The Grossman Family Foundation, and The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr/ U.S. Bank Foundation, the study, "Rx for Success: A Randomized Controlled Trial of Technology-Based Dialogic Reading Training Incorporated into the Reach Out and Read Program" started enrolling families in April of 2018.

DANBURY, CT -- The Danbury Early College Opportunity (DECO) program at Danbury High School has received a $30,000 grant from the Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF). The grant will give students in the program access to course programming that will help them in their pursuit of an Associate Degree in Computer Information Sciences.
